Shuttle

Shuttle is a compact black cat from the West Paris TNR community. She has a high-alert expression. There’s a fierce little fire behind those eyes. She moved quickly and cautiously. Shuttle went through the trapping process and was returned to the West Paris colony. She is doing well there.

High-energy, wary cats like Shuttle are exactly why drop traps and patience matter in TNR work. Alley Cat Allies also documents what happens when community cats are removed without TNR. New cats move in to fill the territory. This phenomenon is known as the vacuum effect. Neutering and returning cats like Shuttle prevents that cycle from starting.

Shuttle came to us through the West Paris TNR Program. For more on stray cat law in Maine, see the Stray Cat Law in Maine post.
