Coalbelt is a sleek, shadowy West Paris TNR community cat. He has piercing golden eyes. He has the bearing of a colony sentinel. Alert, intense, and confident, he was trapped, neutered, and returned to the West Paris colony where he is doing well.
Confident, territorial cats like Coalbelt often serve an important stabilizing role in managed colonies. Best Friends Animal Society notes that established colony members help deter new cats from entering the territory, which reinforces the effectiveness of TNR over time. Coalbelt is holding his post.
Coalbelt came to us through the West Paris TNR Program. For more on stray cat law in Maine, see the Stray Cat Law in Maine post.
