Carder

Carder, a seasoned community cat with a tipped ear from the West Paris TNR Program, returned to colony

Carder is a seasoned, soulful West Paris TNR community cat with a tipped ear and the weathered expression of a cat who has seen a few Maine winters. Stoic and steady, he was already part of a managed colony population and came through the program without issue. He is doing well.

A tipped ear like Carder’s is the universal marker of a cat who has been through TNR. Neighborhood Cats describes ear tipping as the most reliable field identification method for managed community cats. This method allows animal control officers, veterinarians, and the public to immediately recognize that a cat is already sterilized. It indicates that the cat is part of a monitored colony. It saves time and prevents cats from being unnecessarily re-trapped.

Carder came to us through the West Paris TNR Program. For more on stray cat law in Maine, see the Stray Cat Law in Maine post.
